Well, this was a bit unexpected, but I've been offered a teaching position in Ireland! Apparently they're even more desperate for skilled maths teachers than California is. Of course I accepted immediately. I'll be teaching geometry and pre-calculus at a high school in a fairly small town called Seafóid Cruthanta on the west coast, near Doolin. I was there for a couple of days two summers ago, and it has a brilliant folk music scene, and a fascinating old ruined abbey nearby, and of course the ubiquitous ruined-castle-with-cannon-damage-from-Cromwell. I know it's far away from friends and family but it's such a wonderful place, and I hope many of you will be able to visit occasionally. Their school year starts early, so Hazel and I will be moving as soon as I get my credential in June. In the meantime, anyone want to help us pack?

Did any of you bother to check out what "Seafoid Cruthanta" actually means? It's not a quaint village in western Ireland. It's (approximately) Gaelic for "total bullshit."
