Well, I only got an hour and a half of sleep last night, but somehow I managed to finish grading all the midterms, do ALL of the algebra homework assignment (first time this quarter I haven't ended up skipping a problem), and put together a pretty good lesson plan. I am impressed at myself. And tired also.
Furthermore I picked up my TA evaluations from last quarter, and was quite pleased with what I saw. My students gave me high marks in everything except punctuality (due to poor scheduling, I was in Cowtown until 25 minutes before the discussion session each week, so I was usually a few minutes late), and comments included "He presents ideas and proofs clearly," "Thank you for your help," and (heh) "Barnabas is a cool guy." On the other hand it was also pointed out that I grade too harshly and need to speed up the pace in discussion sessions. In short, I'm happy and confident, with the realization that there is still plenty of improvement to do.
And now, back home to tutor a kid in reading and arithmetic, then on to... lots of homework.
Strangely, I am looking forward to starting student teaching next year because I suspect I will be LESS busy. For one thing I'll be taking significantly fewer classes. Also, after August, visiting Hazel will only require walking to the kitchen, rather than driving 65 miles. ;-)
