An intriguing musical coincidence

If you listen to anywhere near as much Irish folk music as I do, you've probably heard the song "I'll Tell Me Ma."

And if you know any Finnish folk music at all, or if you've been paying attention to Internet fads in the past decade, you're probably at least aware of the song "Ievan Polkka" (or you may have heard it at the Alameda Ceilidh or Starry Plough).

But have you ever tried listening to one, then the other in quick succession?

Why did it take me ten years to notice this??

Oh, it's totally the same tune with some minor cultural differences.

I'm amused :)

Wow, I have discovered the same thing between this Romanian song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSSC0M54vkc) and this American one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koVHN6eO4Xg)!

Well, "Live Your Life" isn't exactly surprisingly similar to "Dragostea Din Tei" so much as a total melodic ripoff of it. I like the monologue at the beginning though.
