I had a wonderful time at Dickens this weekend! Playing music for Panto and the Pied Piper were fun as always, and the Three Cripples Pub had fantastic jam sessions running late into both evenings. The after-hours French Postcards show was very nice too.

Crossover!

The Baker Street Irregulars vs. Fagin's Boys. I would LOVE to see this showdown at Dickens Fair.

(Of course, Fagin was long since dead by Holmes's time. I could follow Alan Moore's example and say Artful Dodger's Boys. Also I need to organize my own Baker Street Irregulars. Minions, assemble!)

[discussing the notion of mashing together as many Christmas traditions as possible]

"...and the kids could get a present from Sinterklaas and a present from der Kristkind and a box of fancy candles and coffee from St. Lucia!"

"So would this basically be Christmas for the lolz?"

"Christmas is ALL ABOUT the lolz. Do you know what Christmas was in Elizabethan England? Christmas was twelve days each year when all the businesses in London except the taverns shut down for parties."

(Also if you are bad St. Lucia will blow ashes into your eyes and Svaartepeter will kidnap you and take you away to Spain, where you will spend the following year chopping onions in the back of a paella restaurant!)
