Elf Farm Raffle!
Sep. 26th, 2005 08:39 pmSo this evening I went to the Deparment of Education's fall welcome barbecue, and I brought Hazel along. They were having a free raffle with various deparment-related prizes (mostly t-shirts, mugs, and bookstore gift certificates), and we each got a free ticket upon arrival. We were all amused and mildly frustrated by the fact that the first five or six winners drawn for the raffle were ALL science student-teachers...
...then my name was drawn to win the third of four tickets to dinner at a fancy restaurant with the dean of the department!
...and immediately afterward, Hazel's name was drawn to win two tickets to a piano concert!
Aargh. We're silly. I think this is probably the only time I've won anything in a raffle, too.
Oh, except for like a toy car playmat or something that I won at a picnic at the elementary school that my mom used to teach at. But it sucked.
